Monday Messages April 18th

I hope everyone had a nice Spring Break!!  According to the countdown in the office we have 32 days left!

Dibels starts on April 28th with 4th/5th grades; April 29-  6th grade; May 3rd- 2nd/3rd grades; May 4th-  1st grade; May 5th-  K; and May 6th-11th are designated for make-ups.

If you have students going through the RtI process, please sign up on my calendar this week to meet with me.  This is very important.  I must get our tracking log updated!  Please meet with your grade level this week as a grade level PST.  I have put the yellow folder in somebody's box in each grade level.

Over Spring Break, I started to think about sponsoring a drill team to perform at half-time for our sports program.  (Sort of like a head start on a band program)  I am an old majorette and think I could get one started if people think its a good idea.

I have a RC meeting tomorrow and will miss working with the groups I see in the library.

Monday Messages April 4, 2011

This summer, I will be trained in the Shelton Multisensory Structured Language Program.  I should be given materials to utilize the program throughout next school year.  Hopefully, this will be a good resource to help reach students that continue to fall behind.

I am still missing some PM data for our March report.  Please try to get it to me by tomorrow afternoon.

Dibels testing will begin on April 28th.  The testing date for each grade level is posted outside my door.

SAT and ARMT went well.  We reached the 95% participation goal.  The Alabama Science Assessment will be given tomorrow, April 5th, to our 5th and 7th graders.

On Wednesday, April 6th, our 6th-8th graders will take the PRIDE survey.

Second though Fifth grade teachers need to check their boxes.  I did a grade level summary using your item analysis forms for lesson 24.

Our first post assessments for students who participated in our Spring Tutoring show good growth.  Please let me know if you like how we utilized our tutoring funds.  If our faculty think this was valuable, maybe we could plan to do it again next year (if there is $$).

Just as a friendly reminder, we have a faculty meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 7th.

Have a great week!  Next week is Spring Break!!!

Monday Messages- March 21, 2011

I have great news to share.  Susan and I met with Susan Horton last week and we have finished our CIP.  All required information has been entered into the eCIP system!  Susan Horton helped a lot with this.  Mr. Peoples has marked it as "Prinicpal Approved."  Now our plan will be forwarded to the central office where several people will review it.  Finally, Mr. Carr will receive the plan for final approval.  After he approves the plan it will be "published" online for anyone to review.

We will begin testing in grades 3-8 this week.  It will begin with ARMT reading on Wednesday, ARMT math on Thursday, and Friday is designated as make-ups for ARMT.  Please remember that small group testing will take place in my office, the library, and Tricia's room.

I will need PM data next week.  For grades 3-6, I understand you probably won't have as much data as you usually do.  One or two scores for each student will be fine.

Please make sure that if you have students listed in the academy program that they are actually using the program.

I hope everyone enjoyed the activities from Reading/Writing Celebration Week.  We have another author coming on March 29th.  His name is David Sargeant.  He came several years ago.  He writes about his dogs and even brings them to the school for his presentation.  Cindy Barron will have a flyer to send home about his books.  He will have books for sale the day of his visit.

Have a great week!

Monday Messages for March 14-18

I have included a Poll with blog.  I really appreciate your participation in the poll.

Please remember this is Reading and Writing Celebration Week.  The schedule of activites was placed in your box last week.

Over the course of this week, I will come by your room if you have brought a student to the Problem Solving Team.  We need to review paperwork and documentation.  I must add more information to the school system tracking log.

Later in the week, I will send everyone a link to a power point about Ireland.  This will be part of the St. Patrick's Day activities.

Have a great week!

Monday Messages

Monday Messages will now be posted as a Blog.  I am hoping to facilitate more effective communication through this process.

1.  The Problem Solving Team needs to meet with all teachers who are working with students through the Tier II and Tier III process.  We must look at our documentation for the tiers of instruction.  We will meet on Friday, March 11th during PE times.

2.  If you can't meet on Friday please sign up for a different time on my calendar.

3.  Reading and Writing Celebration Week will be held next week.  Monday is Favorites Day. Students and teachers share their favorite books and authors.  Tuesday is Mustang Day.  We will wear our school colors and write "Good Luck" letters to the coaches and players of spring sports.  Wednesday is Author Visit Day.  Sneed B. Collard will do a presentation for 3rd -5th graders.  K-2 students will have Story Time with milk and cookies.  Thursday is our St. Patrick's Day celebration.  Encourage students to wear green and I will have a power point presentation ready about Ireland for you to share with your class.  Friday is Grandparent's Day.  Invitations were sent out last Friday to invite grandparents to come and read to our classes.

4.  Last Friday was the last day to enter data for the "Free Ticket to Six Flags" program.  I will let you know as soon as I receive information about the tickets.

5.  I hope everyone has a great week!
